Ave Maria College is a Catholic school for girls from Years 7-12.  The recently completed Master Building program provides first class facilities and resources located in beautiful grounds.  A broad and well balanced curriculum caters for a diversity of student learning needs.

The College is seeking applications from suitably qualified, VIT registered teachers for the following positions:

Purpose of the Role

  1. To establish conditions for learning that are student-centred, incorporate a diversity of approaches and promote the achievement of excellence;
  2. To implement the curriculum, teaching and learning, and assessment and reporting policies and practices of the College in a manner which support both the individual and the community;
  3. To implement the pastoral policies and practices of the College in a manner which support both the individual and the community.

Teaching Practice

  1. To create a positive and safe learning environment;
  2. To be aware at all times of the requirements of Duty of Care;
  3. To be well prepared for all lessons;
  4. To cater for a variety of learning styles;
  5. To set homework tasks appropriate to the level and ability of the students;
  6. To comply with College policy on matters of small group and individual student management and discipline.

Administration

  1. To maintain accurate records of student attendance and student performance and progress;
  2. To complete computerised reports (Markbook) according to the requirements of the Deputy Principal - Learning;
  3. To provide progress reports on individual students from time to time;
  4. To complete other administrative and supervisory tasks as required.

Other

  1. To be a positive adult role model and to conduct oneself as a professional in all dealings with members of the College community;
  2. To enhance the development of the instrumental music program;
  3. To be in contact (personal / electronic / pigeon-hole) with the Music Program Coordinator on a fortnightly basis;
  4. To prepare students for, and to attend, the Year 7 end of Semester Concerts and the Annual Music Soiree;
  5. To contact families once a term to discuss their child’s progress;
  6. Dress code: professional.

 

rECEPTIONIST - TWO PART TIME ROLES (2009)

Position Objective

The main reception area is the first point of contact for all visitors and callers to the College. The position holders are responsible for representing the College in a welcoming, professional and efficient manner, and to contribute to the smooth functioning of the General Office.

Specialist Skills and Knowlege required:

  • Business Administration - Certificate 3 (minimum)
  • Microsoft Office 2007, proficient in all packages with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Current First Aid Certificate, Level 2, including management of Anaphylaxis (Epipen).
  • A minimum of three years experience in a similar role.

  3. Convey confident telephone manner.
  4. Able to communicate effectively with a variety of people.
  5. Able to perform duties in a calm, efficient and effective manner.
  6. Ability to work well in a team environment.
  7. Professional dress, a uniform will be provided.

Major Challenges
Major challenges of the position include:

  • Ensuring that outstanding service is provided to all visitors and callers to the College.
  • Assisting staff by answering and transferring calls in a professional and prompt manner.
  • Providing timely and accurate secretarial support.
  • Managing data, including the provision of reports and using other software packages.
